Deaton Family of Moore County NCAccording to an article by William D. Brewer in the Moore County Heritage book, Thomas Deaton was born in England in 1679 and died in Bristol Parish, Henrico Co. VA, in 1761. His wife was Mary Corington. Their son William Deaton was born about 1725 and married Sarah Jackson of Amelia Co. VA. He settled in Chatham Co. NC, and is sometimes known as William the Tory. William Brewer's article says that was killed at the battle of Lindley's Mill in September 1781, probably after participating in Fanning's Raid.
