Durham Family of Orange County NCMarriage bonds are recorded in Orange Co. NC for Lindsey Durham and Salley Hatch, 01 Nov 1834, and for Lindsey Durham and Sylvia Shaw, 2 Aug 1836. So far as I know, this is the same Lindsey Durham in both marriages, but I would like proof.Lindsay and Silvay Durham appear Alamance Co. NC in 1850 with four children. It seems reasonable to suppose that Lindsey is a descendant of Matthew Durham (ca. 1730-1795) and Susannah Lindsey, but I would like more solid proof of the intervening generations.
First GenerationChildren of Lindsey Durham and Sylvia ShawWilliam Durham (ca. 1839-?) John Durham (ca. 1841-?) Robert A. Durham (ca. 1843-1919?) m. Eliza or Elizabeth Maner (?) in 1867 Margaret Durham (ca. 1846-?) I think Robert is the Robert A. Durham who died in Chatham County in February, 1919, age 75, and the Robert A. Durham living in Chatham Co. in 1910, a widower, with daughter Mary V. age 29. His wife's maiden name is variously given as Manes, Maner, or Maynard.
Second GenerationChildren of Robert Durham and Elizabeth ManerWilliam S. Durham (ca. 1869-?) Amanda J. Durham (ca. 1871-bef. 1910) m. David Benton Moore (1871-1832) Letitia Elizabeth Durham (ca. 1878-?) Mary V. Durham (1882-?)
