Gean Family of Chatham County NC

Philip Geane married Mourning Seymore before 1775, and died in 1781 at the Battle of Cane Creek. His parents are uncertain; for more information see the excellent Gean-ealogy site listed below.

Philip and Mourning had two sons, William and John, and a daughter, Mary. The sons are documented in orphans court records in Orange and Chatham counties, and in a pension claim that William made in 1847. John moved to Hickman Co. TN between 1820 and 1830, and later moved to Graves Co. KY.

William Gean married Patsy Yarbrough in 1806 in Orange Co. NC, and remained in North Carolina.
